Emilija BanionytėLibrary Director and Consortium President
Emilija Banionytė is a professional librarian. After graduating with her LIS degree in 1984 from Vilnius University, she started working at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences Library as Head of the Acquisitions Department. Since 1987 she has held the possition of Library Director. Emilija is interested in all aspects of academic library activity; her special fields of interest include: library consortium building, licensing electronic resources, and copyright for librarians.
She is active in professional librarianship not only in Lithuania, but also internationally. She holds or has held positions, including: President of the Lithuanian Research Library Consortium; former President of the Lithuanian Librarians' Association; former member of the EIFL Advisory Board; Vice-Chair of the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights Board of Lithuania; EIFL IP coordinator for Lithuania; member of the EBLIDA Expert Group Information Law; and member of the IFLA CLM Committee.
Currently she is Manager of the EU Structural Funds funded 3-year project "Opening research databases for Lithuania - Stage 2."
