Many of you, particularly in the US, may think the big kickoff is in Houston on Feb. 5. Librarians around the world interested in a free self-study program to learn how to train others on using Mendeley know better. This free reference manager and academic social network helps your researchers and students to organize their research, share and discover papers, and collaborate with others.
Now entering its third year, the Mendeley Certification Program for Librarians continues to be very popular with librarians worldwide for two key reasons:
- Mendeley is an important tool that librarians want to know more about to better serve their users.
- Many librarians are already familiar with Mendeley but want to become an expert.
Spread over three modules with rewards offered for each completed level, the Mendeley Certification Program for Librarians is a self-paced online program that takes between 10-15 hours to complete. Many librarians complete the program not only for the benefits offered but also because it may count towards their annual upgrading requirements.
The 2017 edition of the Certification Program will kick off on February 14. Find out more and register now on the program web page.
When we surveyed participants, 94 percent of the librarians said they would recommend this program to their peers. The 2016 alumni commented:
"The program helped me to improve my Mendeley skills and to gain valuable premium accounts for our users. We have a number of researchers who work in geographically distant locations, so the collaborative features of Mendeley and its web interface should suit them well."
"A fantastic program with excellent results. We introduced our users to Mendeley a while ago and our researchers love it and are looking forward to using additional features via the upgrades. Thanks to the program we are now in a better position to help them share articles, making their collaborative work easier."
"This has been a great program that allowed me to learn new skills on Mendeley; it also gave me the confidence I needed to start promoting Mendeley at my institution."
