Library Connect Travel Sponsorship
for Librarian Working Groups/Committees of STEM Conferences
Elsevier’s Library Connect Program is offering up to two annual US $1,500 travel sponsorships to Librarian Working Groups/Committees at STEM conferences. In turn, the working group/committee will award the sponsorship monies to a librarian/information professional to cover travel-related costs.
The goal of the sponsorship program is to foster opportunities for enhanced communication among librarians and their user communities within STEM disciplines. Sponsorship recipients (the working group/committee and/or the individual librarian recipient) will be required to submit an article to the Library Connect Newsletter on the experience. The article should describe how conference participation enriched their knowledge of their particular STEM user community.
About the Sponsorship
In 2012 Elsevier’s Library Connect Program is offering up to two US $1,500 travel sponsorships to be awarded to Librarian Working Groups/Committees at STEM conferences. The goal of the sponsorship is to foster opportunities for enhanced communication among librarians and their user communities within a STEM discipline. The sponsorship must be awarded to a subject-specialist librarian in a scientific discipline for their travel to a subject-specific conference. Travel must be completed by June 30, 2013. Sponsorship recipients (the working group/committee and/or the individual librarian recipient) will be required to submit an article on the experience for the Library Connect Newsletter, which has more than 16,000 librarian subscribers around the world.
Eligibility and Award Criteria
Sponsorship funds will be made available in a lump-sum amount to Librarian Working Groups/Committees (NOT individual librarians) within subject-specific conferences in a scientific discipline on a first-come, first-served basis. The working group/committee will then decide how to recruit and award recipients.
The working group/committee and conference must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) conferences only
- Library association and/or general industry conferences/trade shows (e.g., higher education, book fairs, etc.) are excluded from this program
- Meeting agenda includes at least one formal librarian-scientist session
- Travel is to be completed within the same calendar year as the sponsorship award
- Preference is given for out-of-country travel
- For annual conferences, sponsorship awards are not guaranteed to any single LWG from one year to the next
NOTE: Individual librarian applicants are NOT eligible.
How to Apply
To apply for the sponsorship, the working group/committee should e-mail email@example.com with the following information:
