Much more arts & humanities coverage on Scopus is coming
In April 2009, arts and humanities (A&H) journals on Scopus are almost doubling. Currently
the 16,000 peer-reviewed journals on Scopus contain 1,600 titles in A&H and related fields.
The A&H expansion will mean Scopus offers better representation of more countries and gives researchers enhanced access to international A&H content. Journal subjects to be covered include literature and literary theory (30% of the new titles), general arts and humanities (22%), history (17%) and visual/performing arts (16%), among others.
Adding close to 1,600 journals to Scopus is a real accomplishment, as often a single A&H title is owned by a small publisher. This type of scenario is quite different from that encountered with dealing with STM journals which are often owned by large publishers and available in sizable collections. To get all the A&H content together, Elsevier has had to contact thousands of journal publishers.
Already Scopus is the most comprehensive cross-disciplinary database with the
broadest coverage in science, technology, medicine and social sciences. Soon it’ll
offer the same breadth for the arts and humanities.![]()
